About CRM
History
Cornerstone Research Ministry (CRM) was originally called
"Christian Research Ministries of Spokane". That ministry was started by myself (Greg DesVoignes)
in 1992. For reasons I will not go into, I put it
aside around 2006. I have dropped using Christian Research Ministries (of
Spokane) to avoid confusion because another person was using the
Christian Research Ministries name even back in the 90s and is still publishing under
it today. My former ministry was a 501.C3 tax exempt organization and
received donations. Cornerstone Research Ministry is not tax exempt and
does not take
donations.
Christian Research Ministries of Spokane was one of comparing
the
teachings in the Church of that time to see how they stood up to the truth
of the Word, and then publish the results in the on-line newsletter, "Battle
Lines". Most of the articles were based upon results of requests by
persons who had concerns about doctrines and teachers of the doctrines that had
come into churches or they saw in various forms of media. Some articles
were the result of my own experiences and testing things with the Word. I
noticed that there are still some of them on-line.
"Battle Lines" newsletter had articles that gave instructions on how to use the Word of God to do as Paul said, to check / test to see if what was being taught was true (1 John 4:1-6). Some articles gave examples of false teachings, teachers, and prophets of heretical teachings / teachers to avoid. Why? Because these false teachings will take us away from the truth of the Word and thus faith in God; and God told us to make sure we are not deceived. In addition, these false teachers bring a judgment upon themselves and those who would follow their words instead of the truth, which they pervert. God warned us of an apostasy in the last days that would bring about the revealing of the anti-Christ and a world system and a false church God calls, "the whore of Babylon".
Having said this, you will see some of the same articles from that past period, republished on this website under the name of the new newsletter, "Cornerstone", because many of these past articles are still relevant today. Some from that period have been edited to bring the reader up to date on where that particular teaching or subject has evolved to in this time. So, I did not plagiarize them, but wrote them back then myself.
Today
Why the name "Cornerstone"? The Word of God tells us in both the Old and New Testaments that this word referred to Jesus as the foundation stone of of the building of the temple and then of his Church. The cornerstone was the perfect; level straight and true stone both horizontal and vertical by which all the other stones each lined up with to insure. God said of this perfect stone;
Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. Isaiah 28:16-17
All the "builders" of this church and their doctrines / teachings, must line up with Jesus (the Word), who is called "the Chief Cornerstone). Therefore, all teachings in building His church must be in accordance with the Word of God. Yet God's Word says that this stone, the perfect and true alignment showing the way to God and His salvation, would be rejected by the builders. This Stone (Jesus and His Word) was initially rejected by Israel. However it is also being rejected again by many of those who purport to be building the "Church" because they have gone outside of lining up their teachings with the teachings of the Word.
Jesus said to the Jews who sought to kill him; " And ye have not His word abiding in you; for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are which testify of me. And ye will not come to me that ye might have life." John 5:38-40
Cornerstone Research Ministry endeavors to exhort God's people to make it a habit to STUDY the Word of God in order to be able to see if what we are being taught by the many popular teachers and teachers (and others) are really in line with the teachings of the Word of God. If you don't know the truth, you cannot see the false. If you do not know God by having Him speak to you through His Word, you will be deceived into believing in the teachings of the false god that has been trying to replace the true God since the beginning of this creation.
CRM looks into some of these teachings of today and in view of God's word, to see if they are in alignment with the Word of God, Jesus, the Chief Cornerstone. "Cornerstone" articles can be accessed by clicking here, or on the "Articles" link on the menu list at the top of the page.
