"The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth.”" Revelation 18:23-24
Chapter 17 of Revelation deals with the one world spirituality of the ecumenical false church that helps usher in the anti-Christ whom will eventually turn against it. Revelation 17:5 called this system "Mystery Babylon" and said that this false church, also called "the "Whore", is responsible for all those who have been killed for following Jesus (vs. 6). Chapter 18 of Revelation is revealing what will be happening, and has started to happen, in the last days, particularly with the one world economic system which Revelation 18 also refers to as "Babylon". Like the apostate false church, this economic system is not only also responsible for the death of those who follow Christ, but for ALL who have been killed on earth. These two systems are two parts of a three part one world system. The other is the world being governed by a one world governing authority also under the rule of the anti-Christ during the seven year Tribulation Period. Understand, it is to last only seven years. Then, all this evil we see going on now, will be gone.
The prophecy in Revelation 18:23 says that within the economic system there would be world wide corporation leaders (emporos - merchants) who would be "the great men" of the earth (megistan - nobles, magnates, chief men). These definitions allude to the wealthy business leaders engaging in world trade who would be those who would have a power that would greatly influence and control the people and the other systems of the world. These are the ones who gain from the idolatry of the wealth and trade in this Babylonian economic system along with the tyrannical "kings of earth" (government leaders apart from God).
Do we see this coming about today? Yes. While the influence of business in government affairs has been going on for decades in America in the forms of lobbying legislatures in the Senate and Congress (and other government institutions) and influencing them through their donations of campaign funds and various other forms of corruption, it has become more blatant in the past few years. This has especially been exposing it's serpent head in 2020 and 2021. How? Here are some examples.

Are the social and news media corporations part of the "merchants" of the earth and included in the category of the "great men" or wealthy magnates spoken of in Revelation 18? Yes.
Social Media
First, social media is engaged in world commerce and involved in world wide marketing of goods through selling advertizing on their sites. Or, like Amazon, they actually sell a variety of numerous products on-line, while at the same time provide web platforms for social media sites such as Parler, the former alternative to Twitter and Facebook. But for the most part, advertizing is how they make their money. So, in the absence of the companies that pay for advertizing on their platforms, they probably would not exist perhaps with the exception of Amazon.
The advertizing base and income from advertizing is large. For instance, Facebook reportedly has 7 million advertisers trying to sell you their wares or services, while Twitter had 60 thousand in 2015. The income for these companies is also large. For instance Google, who also owns YouTube and Alphabet, took in over 119 billion in 2019 and over 146 billion in 2020! This much wealth translates to power, influence, and control. And control they have, and exert; especially in the information they allow their users to see or not see. Thus, they have a power over the people.
We have all seen (or should be seeing) how Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have been removing any content that does not fit their political affiliation and other global agendas. They remove customers and content that they do not want us to see and be aware of. It has been apparent that these sites target mostly conservative persons, entities, and their ideas and opinions. These social media companies state those posts and persons they have removed have violated their terms of agreement which have to do, in part, with posts that promote violence, hate speech, and what they (or as we will see; others) consider fake or misleading information. And it doesn't matter if the information is true. This includes links to other news media stories.
For instance, in an April 16, 2021 article by the New York Post, they noted three instances where Facebook and Twitter removed information and links to their articles exposing the corruption of the Marxist Black Lives Matter founders spending donations for personal houses, Hunter Biden's laptop content, and information that said the Covid virus may have leaked from the Wuhan lab in China. All were verified as valid information as pointed out in the article. Yet, truth and corruption did not matter to these companies; only what they, or possibly their unseen overseers do not want us to know. BLM is in their "racist" agenda to promote race division agendas so BLM cannot be criticized and exposed for these Marxists and followers of witchcraft that they are.
There are numerous other examples that have come to light over the past four years. President Trump, while still President, had posts remove from Twitter and Facebook, and then he himself was removed from the platforms. Yet, the social media sites of Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, is still up and running. A man who has declared, "death to America" and "death to Israel" is approved over who was our President; even while he was still in office.
Complaints To The Government Yield Nothing But New Revelations
So when complaints of these post and account removals were mounting, there were Congressional and Senate Hearings where the heads of these companies were subpoenaed to appear before the committees. And while there were "concerns" on both sides of the political parties, and a lot of stern accusations and words from some committee members; nothing has ever come about to actually put a stop to these diabolical censorship practices. In fact, I was watching one of these recent Senate conducted on April 27, 2021 on C-Span in which Senator John Kennedy noted that all they do in the hearings is talk, but nothing gets done. Do we ever wonder why this is? One reason may be seen as I watched the hearing.
Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar noted to the panel of social media executives (not the CEOs) testifying at the hearing that she had sent a letter to these companies "urging" them to remove any information that contradicted information on Covid that was put out by the CDC and other governmental and world health sources. She noted that these companies responded to her "urging" and have been removing those posts that have information that would oppose taking the vaccine. I found an article where Kloburchar said this.
The article in the Dickson Press said,
"Citing the false information that led to an attack on the U.S. Capitol, Sen. Amy Klobuchar appeared alongside Mayo Clinic vaccination program co-director Dr. Melanie Swift and infectious disease specialist Dr. Andrew Badley on Wednesday, Feb. 17, to sound the alarm about online misinformation concerning the vaccines administered for COVID-19....
"A member of the Senate commerce committee, Klobuchar in
late January co-signed a letter to the heads of Facebook, Google, YouTube and
Twitter urging them to better identify and counter false information being
spread on their platforms about the vaccines.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, reports have found
that your companies have struggled with limiting coronavirus and vaccine-related
misinformation and disinformation in the United States," read the letter,
co-signed by two other senators. "The result has been tens of millions of
Americans seeing harmful misinformation, including conspiracy theories."
Since that letter, Klobuchar said, millions of
posts have been removed and the tech CEOs "then committed to redouble
their efforts to take down these tweets or to put a warning sign on posts that
are ambiguous." She argued that any charges of censorship in
the face of holding social media companies to a truth standard are false.
"At some point these companies have some
responsibility here," she said. "They have made a lot of money off of us and our
data … It's not censorship,
they're businesses and they have to protect us from bad information.
Your TV station cannot allow fake information. The
newspapers have rules that govern them. They can't pretend it's anything goes
… We have seen what happens with false information about elections. You can just
look at the broken windows and glass at the Capitol."
Klobuchar said that the World Health Organization
has termed the problem as an "infodemic," and
urged Minnesotans to see the spread
of vaccine misinformation as an attack. "People are actively trying
to get people to not take the vaccine. Other people are just passing
misinformation along because they think it's cool to do,
or they
actually believe what they're reading."
Klobuchar has also introduced a COVID-19 Misinformation and Disinformation Task Force Act that would enable the Department of Homeland Security to coordinate the government analysis of false vaccine information online...
"I believe Minnesotans deserve fair and accurate
information about vaccine," she said. "We've had a rash of diseases in certain
communities because they've had bad information. Some of this in the past
has been tracked
to foreign governments.
Some has been tracked to
people who were just trying to make trouble out there."

Well this is revealing, is it not? In a hearing to investigate these platforms for censorship and manipulation, we find that one of the hearing Senators actually is engaged in promoting censorship and wants to "track" and monitor whom ever opposes the government claims. To her (and others) only the government or "medical science" is true. (How many times has Fauci and the CDC been wrong!)There can not be any opposing views or concerns! This is the worldview of the many liberals and even some conservatives. Could it be these hearings are just a sham to appease people?
There is
truly so much business / government associated corruption in Washington DC and
other places. By the way, all of the following corporations contributed to Kloburchar in 2020; the Mayo Clinic, Walt Disney (owns ABC) and Comcast
(owns NBC), Alphabet (owned by Google), National Association of Broadcasters,
and the NTCA The Internet and Television Association. According to the
Open Secrets site, "The organizations
themselves did not donate, rather the money came from the
organizations' PACs, their individual members
or employees or owners, and those
individuals' immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and
affiliates."

Media and social media. Hard to effect change when you are being paid by
the ones you are supposed to be investigating. But the show must go on to
make it look good.
I have already seen one church that is engaged in teaching prophetical current "signs of the times" messages have some of their messages removed from YouTube because they had to do with the Covid issues. This includes how the mask mandates, veiled vaccine coming mandates, are precursors to, and fit into the soon coming of the anti-Christ and his "cannot buy or sell" unless you bow down to his rule and take his "mark" as seen in Revelation 13 , Revelation 14:9-11, and Revelation 16:2.
So, to counter the censorship by these "great men" merchants of the earth and the government, many who were removed from these platforms and others, moved to another social media site called "Parlor". There they had the freedom of speech that was removed from the others. This worked until Amazon Web Services actually removed the platform and Apple removed the phone app from its IPhones. Thus, they are trying to silence any opposition to anything in opposition to what really amounts to, the Globalist agenda for their "one world" system. On the silencing via social media, they are having some success. But it will not succeed in the end as we will see.
The News Media
So now we come to the media, mainstream network, cable and digital / written platforms like newspapers. Like social media, they too are engaged in merchandising through advertising, which keeps them on TV. Like social media, mainstream media and some cable news like CNN, also control "the narrative" and what they want you to see and believe. We really saw this coming up before President Trump was elected. He referred to mainstream media as "Fake News". This was because instead of reporting information, they were actually making up information and calling it fact when, many times was eventually found to be false. The "Russian collusion" story was one along with the whole two year investigation that discounted this and more. And it was so interesting to see video montages of different news anchors and reporters in lockstep with each other in making the same quotes in all of these false narratives.
In her interview with the Dickson Press, Senator Klobuhar wrongly stated that TV stations cannot allow fake information. Yet it has been plainly seen that they do. Yet even when caught in lies, and "misinformation" they did not care but did it anyway, and still do it, over and over again. It is surprising that they (and there are many) are still employed. But why do they continue to lie?
Timothy 4:1-2 says,
Now the Spirit [a]expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron..."
This describes those apostate in the church. How much more those in the secular world? One video of rioting last summer showed this mental demonic blindness to reality where the reporter is at a site of rioting and burning buildings behind him and he referred to it as "mostly peaceful" protests. Then we have the mayor of Seattle calling the riots and takeover of an area of this falling city, a "love fest" while gunfire exploded nightly, and people were shot and killed. While all this rioting over police shooting blacks is going on, the media have ignored the explosion of black on black crime in places like Chicago where many children have been shot in the crossfire of demonic stupidity.
Some may ask why Fox News and Newsmax are in his list of those who put out information since both appear to oppose mainstream media and even expose the lies of them. Let's take Fox first. Over the past few years there have been some personalities that have shown more leaning to those politicians and ideologies who are more liberal and globalist in thinking. Some have left Fox, some are still there. So as things move toward the coming of the anti-Christ and his totalitarian rule, we are told that "the whole world" follows the beast. How much deception will have come into Fox as time goes on? Remember, this is a secular business. It is interesting to see that some of their news hosts outwardly ask "what is going on?" as the signs of the times are being revealed. Yet I have not heard these refer to the prophecies or even say we need to seek God. Some have brought the need to return to God as have some guests. However this is not the norm nor urgency. The message and answer for change is still looking for a man to reverse course, not God, the true answer through faith in Jesus.
It is somewhat similar with Newsmax with the exception that there is more outward unashamed speech of needing God. But again, will they maintain their opposition to the evil and lies that come via mainstream media? Or will they fall into the hypocrisy with the others, or maybe not even being allowed to exist? In any event, we must also be careful in the information there and watch to make sure that it is not being influenced to join in the hypocrisy. Daniel 11:34 tells us that during the Tribulation Period, for some, it will be too much to resist the "mandates" of the anti-Christ and these will fall and join in the hypocrisy.
The "Corporations" Example
We can see the regular corporate "merchants" attempting to control the government and citizens by using economics to attempt to get the State of Georgia change their election laws. While the law was meant to curb election fraud, a number of global companies as well as the Major League Baseball (MLB) "corporation" decided is was a violation of civil rights for black people mainly because of an ID requirement to vote. So, the MLB decided it would move it's All Star game from Atlanta to Denver, CO. It removed about 100 million in revenue from the businesses and government in Atlanta. Now since Colorado's voting laws are more strict than Georgia's, why would they do this? Just plain control and manipulation. Many of these, including the MLB have business relations with China, if that says something, and it does.
In addition to the MLB attempting to financially coerce Georgia into changing their voting law, below is a list of other corporations that have decided the law is even racist and have pledged to try to influence the Georgia and even Federal laws. Below is a list of some these companies. Some are headquartered in Georgia, but many are not. Yet they want to get the law(s) changed by putting pressure on the legislatures. There are quotes from some of their CEOs that show their attempted influence and control on officials. More of the "merchants" acting as "the great men of the earth". Oh by the way, many of these companies are listed as "Partners" with the World Economic Forum (WEF) which is now attempting to evoke what they call "The Great Reset" of the world economic system which the Bible calls "Babylon". If one of the below companies that oppose the Georgia law are on the WEF list, it is noted in blue.

(Note that the WEF mention "entertainment" and "sports", which they have their claws in too. The WEF noted that global value of the sports "industry" was about 471 billion in 2018 before Corona.) Mark Tatum, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer of the NBA told the WEF that the NBA is a global game and that the NBA has offices in different countries and cities over the world including three cities in China.

11 “And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore: 12 merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble; 13 and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men.
14 The fruit that your soul longed for has gone from you, and all the things which are rich and splendid have gone from you, and you shall find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, 16 and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! 17 For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.’ Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance 18 and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like this great city?’
The destruction of the system comes unannounced and quick. Verse 22-24 say the destruction is complete. And this article ends like it began. It says,
21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and shall not be found anymore. 22 The sound of harpists, musicians, flutists, and trumpeters shall not be heard in you anymore. No craftsman of any craft shall be found in you anymore, and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard in you anymore. 23 The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth.”
The material things and idolatry of them that made these merchants and government leaders rich, is no longer in existence (see also Ezekiel 27) In fact God warns his own people who have been enamored with the idolatrous and richness of this day and replacing God with the things of man, when he said in Revelation 18:4-5
"4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins [c]have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities"
How utterly frightening to have to live in this soon coming time. It is the same warning and opportunity that was given to Lot before the angels destroyed both Sodom and Gomorrah. Revelation 6 further describes the fear of man when these things start. It says in verses 15-17
15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
Revelation 21:5-8 tells us of a future time and shows the outcome for the followers of Jesus, and the outcome of those who are not as seen in this article.
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
If you are not a born again believer and follower of Jesus, then it is now time for you to take this seriously. If you are one of those who are noted in this article, you should listen and check these things yourself. The time is short. The Word tells us that in the prophetical timeline of things in the last days, the taking of the believers up to Christ (the Rapture) out of the destruction, will be the next sudden unannounced event that will happen (Revelation 3:7-13). This will be followed by the Tribulation Period that we do not wish to be upon anyone. If these corporate and government leaders and others do not turn to God through Jesus and his free salvation, (pray for them) they will be participants in the Tribulation Period when all of this will take place. And that is a real bad thing for them and anyone who is a lover of this self indulgent system of idolatry and whom has rejected a free gift of salvation from God and his Son, Jesus.

The ABCs of Salvation
Some people think a personal relationship with God is
something only theologians can comprehend. Actually, God’s plan of salvation is
simple enough for everyone to understand. Here are the ABCs of salvation.
Admit
Admit to God that you are a sinner. All persons need
salvation. Each of us has a problem the Bible calls sin. Sin is a refusal to
acknowledge God’s authority over our lives. Everyone who does not live a life of
perfect obedience to the Lord is guilty of sin. “For all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). Since none of us is perfect, all of us
are sinners (Rom. 3:10-18).The result of sin is spiritual death (Rom. 6:23).
Spiritual death means eternal separation from God. By God’s perfect standard we
are guilty of sin and therefore subject to the punishment for sin, which is
separation from God. Admitting that you are a sinner and separated from God is
the first step of repentance, which is turning from sin and self and turning
toward God.
Believe
Believe in Jesus Christ as God’s Son and receive Jesus’ gift
of forgiveness from sin. God loves each of us. God offers us salvation. Although
we have done nothing to deserve His love and salvation, God wants to save us. In
the death of Jesus on the cross, God provided salvation for all who would repent
of their sins and believe in Jesus. “For God so loved the world that he gave his
one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life” (John 3:16).
Confess
Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord to
others. After you have received Jesus
Christ into your life, share your decision with another
person. Tell your pastor or a Christian friend about your decision. Following
Christ’s example, ask for baptism by immersion in your local church as a public
expression of your faith. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For
it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your
mouth that you confess and are saved” (Rom. 10:9-10).
